Stevenson's ER32 Sharpening Fixture

NEW Product

This fixture is used to grind 2, 3, 4, 6 and 12 fluted end mills and shell mills, normally on a surface grinder, using a magnetic table to hold the fixture. It is designed to grind the face only, not the flutes.

Any metric or imperial shank between 2mm and 20mm can be held with a suitable ER32 collet.

Cutters are easily locked in place using the top mounted collet nut with the fixture still stuck to the table (5C sharpening fixtures have to be removed from the table since they are locked from underneath with a pin spanner).

The base of the fixture is angled so the 4.5° cutting edge angle is ground slightly deeper towards the centre of the cutter by 2°.

The second angle on the base is for grinding a 30° clearance angle.

By using ER32 collets, a height reduction of about 13mm is achieved compared to similar 5C fixtures. This can be important on grinders where the table to wheel distance is limited.

5C to ER32 Collet Adaptor

This clever little adaptor will enable you to use ER32 collets in your existing 5C fixtures. The adaptor has 5C standard 1.05" x 24tpi internal, and 1.230" x 20tpi external drawbar threads and a 1" internal bore up to the back of the ER32 taper. Because the adaptor has a collet chuck on the nose, it can only be locked into drawbar type fixtures such as:

5C Collet Fixture Type C.
5C Collet Block Set.
5C Indexing Heads not already fitted with an ER32 nut and adaptor.

Also compatible with our 5C Collet Adjustable Backstop. The adaptor is not suitable for front locking fixtures like our 5C Collet Fixture Type B.
The adaptor is not required for Stevenson's 5C Indexing Head with ER32 Nut and Adaptor.

Stevenson's 5C Indexing Head with ER32 Nut and Adaptor

This 5C spin indexing head will accept both 5C and ER32 collets - handy when you consider that each ER collet has a wider operating range than a 5C collet.

The added versatility is made possible by the addition of a removeable 5C-ER32 collet adaptor and a special ER32 collet nut which is threaded onto the spindle nose.
